How do we get to Ambergris Caye from the Belize International Airport?
Ambergris Caye is located approximately 15 minutes by air from mainland Belize. Hourly flights from the Philip Goldson International Airport as well as the Belize City Municipal Airstrip to Ambergris Caye are provided by the local airlines Maya Island Air and Tropic Air.
Visitors to the Caye can also travel from Belize City by local water taxi. These well-maintained, covered speedboats are comfortable, safety-equipped, and even feature an on-board washroom. The ride lasts approximately 1½ hours. The water taxi is about a 30 minute taxi ride from the international airport. There are two companies that run boats on alternating schedules. When you get through immigration, baggage collection and customs you just head outside and get a taxi (green license plates) and tell them you want to get the next water taxi to San Pedro. The driver will have the current schedule and know which one to bring you to.
Should you choose to fly from Belize International Airport, our caretaker will be happy to arrange the flight on your behalf. Just ask us!
Should you choose to take the water taxi we can prearrange your transportation from the airport to the water taxi terminal if you wish. Your driver will then be waiting for you with a sign showing your names.
Who picks us up in San Pedro?
For parties of two or less, one of our staff from Coastal Breezes will meet you at the airport with our golf cart to shuttle you to our location. Parties of three or more will be picked up by our taxi driver, Jesus.
How do we buy groceries?
After we pick you up, we'll stop along the way at a local grocery store so you can get started on your wonderful vacation with the food and drink supplies you need! The grocery stores in Belize also carry alcohol.
For ongoing supplies the Mata Grade Grocery Store is a short walk away.
We can also arrange to pre-stock your casita with food and beverages if desired. Please ask for more information.
